Mexico holds the Appellation of Origin, it was granted 16 of June 2009. After many years it was proven that Planifolia Vanilla is genetically original from Mexico. The area of production is a territory of approximately 7,751 km2 divided among 39 municipalities of the States of Veracruz and Puebla, Mexico.
